Dude this is crazy awesome! Can't wait to see where it goes. I was wondering if getting a new heart container is supposed to fully heal you like they do in most Zelda games? And do apples regrow on trees? When I found myself low on health with no more food or octoroks to kill I had no choice but to continue on with a half a heart and ended up dying to the moblins in the forest. The other thing is are you supposed to be able to pick up arrows? Iv'e noticed that they fall on the ground but I don't seem to be able to pick them up most of the time. Anyway thanks for making my day!

Yeah man, replace these sprites ASAP and just avoid the trouble. This is already fun as is, and we don't want to see you get Nintendo'd hard! Keep up the good work!

It's probably wise not to ask for donations, since that would be considered making money of off Nintendo's IP.

I don't think donations work that way. I'm not making money off of the game, people are giving me money to support my future endeavors. The product is entirely free

You are still receiving money by way of a game that uses Nintendo IP. It's dumb but your game will likely still be taken down by Itch corp when Nintendo gets word of it. Just change a few sprites and the game's name and you should be clear.

A final version of the game will have totally overhauled original graphics and characters.

Honest man, its epic. Don't risk yourself get taken down by some laywers and make your own IP out of that game instead. You shall go far with this.

Hi :D,

Question, are you looking for any help on the programming/development side?

Fantastic stuff so far, but can you save? I was thinking it had to do with campfires but I really can't figure it out.

No saving in the demo, but there will be in the final game!

Ah, well, the sooner you get that implemented the better :p

Trust me, it'll come in handy with testing :)

Burning apple trees in the actual game gets you baked apples? I might have to go and try that now...

BTW awesome job on the game. I haven't played it yet, but just looking at the videos some people have posted it looks absolutely incredible.

Definitely donating some money to you gameplay unplayed just to encourage this sort of development.

$5 to you, Sir or Madam, in support of your endeavors. Hopefully itch.io doesn't take much of a cut out of that. And hopefully Nintendo doesn't take notice of your project. :P

thanks so much! 😁

exporting to Mac requires me to own a mac computer of my own, and exporting to Linux would be expensive in exchange for only about 0.02%of gamers

Great Demo! Great JOB! stay doing things like that! so GAMY! ;P

Great game. I was wondering what you are using to develop it? Are you using a development tool such as Unity, or just building it from the ground up with C++ or something like that?

I use Game Maker Studio. It's an awesome program, I was able to create the demo in only a few weeks

Okay cool, thanks.

one more question, where did you get th sprites from? Did you create them or is there some place tbey can be downloaded from.

Dont know why but the game runs kinda slow for me, I have an mid range comp and I think it could run it fairly easily... weird.

The v1 demo has awful optimisation. I've doubled performance in the next version :)

Hi!

Pretty good work on this game, but I'd like to give you some feedback on how to make it even better :)

I have not gotten to the first dungeon yet because it's pretty difficult... I like that it is difficult, however if difficulty is the intent then you really should play around with the balance between being forgiving and fair. What I mean is that right now you're neither fair, nor forgiving as of now. A simple way to be fair with the player is to give the player a few savepoins during their adventure. If you take a look at Breath of the Wild, the enemies are awfully hard in the early stages (until you figure out how to beat them more efficently), and the game feels really unforgiving, however, to compensate for the difficulty the game saves just before every enemy encounter. I'm not saying that this games need that amount of savepoints, but a select few is really needed. Or at least do it like the original where you keep your items upon death and if you are on the overworld you spawn at the starting area, but if you die in a dungeon you spawn in the dungeon.

Also, a map would be helpful. I don't know if you get it later in the game, but maybe the map could expand as you explore, similar to strategy games like The Settlers?

I miss inventory sorting... I had to drop items to manually sort it, and that feels awkward...

Having more itemslots at the same time would be nice, because it will get a bit tedious to always open the inventory to change between bow and sword/hammer

And I would love Nintendo Switch controller support, because they fit retro-games perfectly and connect via bluetooth :D

Btw, I'm a composer so contact me if you'd like to collaborate on a soundtrack :)

Forgot to mention, it feels a bit restricting to not be able to slash the weapon... I mean, you don't have to follow the same restrictions that the NES had (especially since you don't do it elsewhere). There is a reason why A link to the Past had slashing swords ;)

And also moving diagonally should let you slash diagonally :)

Thanks so much for the feedback! I'm already adressing almost all of your complaints in the next version, haha!
Nice music you've got as well :)

I'll be looking forward to that update ;)

Thank you for the compliment! :D

Oh, and btw, that is only part of the music I actually make :P

Amazing! First 5 minutes I was trying to get that heart container but that doesn't worked. then I tried to kill monsters but It was hard. Later I realised I have a shield then I became to think about a way to beat it. Then I got that leaf, first I didn't knew what to do but then I discoverd FIRE! I let the whole forest burn down! it was fun. So good move! I have a few suggestions for you.

Please make the shield better.
